Farmsured–Foodsured
Farmsured - Foodsured

Sub-project Title:

From Farm to Table: Making Nigerian Chicken and Eggs Safe and Trustworthy through Digital Compliance and Traceability

Funding Awarded:

€ 59,996

Location of the sub-project:

Oyo State, Nigeria

The Farmsured–Foodsured sub-project validates a digital compliance and traceability infrastructure designed to improve food safety and trust in Nigeria’s poultry value chain. The project deploys QR-based input authentication, daily digital compliance monitoring, and batch-level output tagging across 30 Farmsured-enabled poultry farms, with 20 matched non-Farmsured farms serving as a control group. Laboratory testing of eggs, broiler meat, and feed samples at baseline and endline measures microbial indicators including total plate count, coliform levels, and pathogen presence. The project aims to achieve at least a 20% reduction in microbial risk indicators, ≥80% sustained compliance among participating farms, and measurable consumer engagement through QR verification, thereby strengthening transparency, safety, and market confidence.
