The FS4Africa Open Call 2 attracted 276 proposals, demonstrating strong interest from Innovation Hubs and innovation-support organisations in contributing to safer food systems across Africa. The submissions show a broad geographical reach, with applicants from at least 50 countries across Africa and beyond.
The largest number of proposals originated from Nigeria (77 proposals, 28%) in Kenya (42 proposals, 15%), followed by Ghana (16 proposals, 6%), Uganda and Ethiopia (14 proposals each, 5%), and Tanzania (12 proposals, 4%). The geographical distribution demonstrates particularly strong engagement from West and East Africa, complemented by participation from other regions of the continent and beyond.
Strong Alignment with the FS4Africa Use Cases
All 276 submitted proposals addressed at least one of the four FS4Africa Use Cases, demonstrating strong alignment between the proposed Innovation Hub activities and the food safety challenges already being addressed within the project.
