Rationale

This hybrid workshop brings into dialogue scholars who are at the forefront of developing frontier food system knowledge and innovations with those who are involved in delivering these innovations in a pattern that embraces and accommodates the diverse demands across the food value chain. The event objective is to explore future strategies for fostering a more integrated food ecosystem and accelerate discussions on the needed programmatic actions to foster progress towards a more transparent, nutritious, and health sensitive food ecosystem. Panel 1 focuses on key top-level patterns for attaining food security, with particular attention on three megatrends affecting agrifood systems, including demographic changes, geopolitical instability, and emerging frontier technologies and innovations. Panel 2 then discusses the paradigmatic agenda of delivering sustainable and healthy diets for all, specifically addressing how digital and data innovations could facilitate evidence-based actions and the establishment of food-water-land-energy nexus. Through facilitated discussions we hope to accelerate progress towards the collaborative agenda of creating a world where everyone has access to safe, nutritious, and affordable food.
